Parliament House - Canberra, Australia

ARMM was engaged by Mitchell, Giurgola & Thorpe to provide a complete roof design on the Parliament Building in Canberra, Australia. ARMM was given the responsibility to perform research of modified roofing materials, design concepts, and to develop an overall strategy as to individual building material types throughout the entirety of the structure.

In working with Fred Foot, A.I.A. and the administration of the Parliament Commission, ARMM developed an overall strategy for all waterproofing and dampproofing materials. The building is a sub-grade structure; total cost of the building is $2,000,000,000.00.

The long-term involvement of ARMM and Robert J. Moore was fully recognized by the Queen of England. ARMM's performance level in preparing and maintaining the documentation of our individual craft was noted at the Grand Opening Ceremonies of the building. ARMM's investigation with expansion joints and through-wall expansion joints was subsequently fully developed into ASTM Specification #981, which is now recognized worldwide.
