State Annex Building - Trenton, New Jersey

The State Annex Building in Trenton, New Jersey is a monumental structure built in 1913. It houses the Senate and Assembly Conferee's offices. It is the seat of power situated adjacent to the state house in Trenton, New Jersey.

The original roof construction in 1913 was a flat built-up roofing system that was superimposed with a lightweight concrete deck around 1940. Two subsequent roofing systems were applied in the 1960's and 70's. After a complete investigation, the DBC (Department of Building and Construction) decided to remove all roofing systems down to the original substrate.

The main focus of the reroofing project was the installation of an HVAC system that would heat and cool the office spaces as well as the Senate and Assembly areas.

ARMM was engaged to do the preliminary investigation, which included comprehensive drawings of all details along with complete composition. ARMM was then engaged to produce a preliminary design and a finalized design to remove all surface lightweight concrete down to the original construction.

McAllister Roofing removed all lightweight concrete and rehabilitated the building to the original substrate.

The DBC has now fully air-conditioned all of the internal spaces and installed a new tapered roofing system.
