The Forum Building - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

The Forum Building is one of the structures at the Harrisburg State Capitol. The building was constructed in 1927 with an original copper roof.

Due to the deterioration of the copper roof system, the Capitol Preservation Society indicated that the entirety of the metal roofing system would be removed and replaced.

ARMM was engaged to perform a Phase I Roof Audit that not only encapsulated the evaluation of the metal roofing, but also made a determination as to the drainage systems and performed a boroscopic analysis of all drain lines. From the unique copper ornamental work, a cheneau (the ornamentation banding around the top of the roofing work) was evaluated and ARMM recommended that the roof could be salvaged instead of undergoing a complete replacement.

Ornamental copper work could undergo complete restoration. The cost between repairs and the complete restoration of the copper saved the State approximately One Million Dollars.
